Basepoint doubles Diverse Abilities Plus fundraising efforts
Basepoint Weymouth recently presented a cheque of over £3,300 to Dorset charity, Diverse Abilities Plus, having “match funded” money raised from the charity’s quiz night and Christmas fete.
Diverse Abilities Plus is an independent, not for profit organisation working together with families to help meet the needs of local people of all ages with physical and learning difficulties. They endeavour to achieve this through tailor-made programmes of support, developed according to the needs of the individual through every transitional stage of their lives and personal development.
Basepoint Business Centres, who specialise in the development and operation of flexible business, innovation and enterprise centres, is owned by The ACT Foundation, a leading UK grant-making charity, dedicated to improving the quality of life of those in need. As such, each centre is dedicated to fundraising for a selected charity and The ACT Foundation match funds any money raised by the chosen charity, up to the value of £10,000 per centre.
Stella Brading, Centre Manager at Basepoint Weymouth, comments: “We’re delighted to support Diverse Abilities Plus, who provide an invaluable service to the local community. We look forward to continuing to assist them with their fundraising efforts.”
Jon Wheatley, representative who accepted the cheque on behalf of Diverse Abilities Plus, adds: “We are incredibly grateful to Basepoint Weymouth for this kind donation. The funds will be used to help our charity support many Dorset children with physical and learning disabilities, including families in Weymouth, through providing special play sessions and activities in the school holidays.”
