Chepstow Chamber of Commerce in talks to bring back carnival

Chepstow

Fingers crossed for an exciting announcement in 2015 - Chepstow Chamber of Commerce wants to bring the carnival back to town this year.

Sarah Beynon, Chairman of Chepstow Chamber of Commerce, said “Currently Bulwark has a walking carnival which is well supported and great fun but we want to bring the carnival back to the whole town with floats and entertainment. It’s important for the town to have lots of exciting and colourful events and this is one thing that residents and business owners alike really enjoyed and benefitted from. We would love to see the schools, charities and businesses with floats and make it a day to remember.”
The Chamber has found its first sponsor in Chepstow Racecourse. Marketing Manager for the Racecourse, Peter Townsend, said: “We have a corporate and social responsibility to Chepstow and want to invest in our relationship with the town. Helping the carnival to run as a long term event in Chepstow would be what we were looking to do.”
In 2013 Carnival organisers, the Round Table, decided not to hold the event due to lack of man power according to then Mayor, Cllr Rutter.
“We have spoken briefly with Chepstow Round Table about the event and they have indicated that they will support us in any way they can,” said Sarah Beynon, “We are determined to bring this event back to the town and are calling on charities and businesses who may be interested in sponsoring or simply helping out with the event to contact us soon.”
