An Informative and Thought Provoking January Networking Hub

Chepstow

Basepoint Chepstow hosted another successful Networking Hub this week, welcoming delegates from a wide range of local businesses who enjoyed networking, presentations, lunch and a business card prize draw.

The Networking Hub is a free B2B networking event hosted by Basepoint each quarter. The event is open to all kinds of business and our aim is to give all those that attend the opportunity to meet new people, to build on existing business relationships and to generate new leads. Our January Hub featured presenters Yvonne Carroll and Rhianne Parry who are both Employer Engagement Advisers at Careers Wales, as well as Mark Forde from Seal Enterprises (training).

Yvonne & Rhianne presented on the service they provide, offering independent and impartial advice and guidance on the current incentives/funding that is available for employers, to help with recruitment. These include Work Based Learning, The Jobs Growth Wales Scheme and Apprenticeships, along with information regarding funding and assistance with training existing staff and also the use of the Vacancy Bureau with the advertising and promoting of vacancies for free. They also touched on how they can assist businesses who may be having to make redundancies, providing advice and assistance with accessing ReACT funding available to employees under notice of redundancy. Mark Forde gave a very thought-provoking presentation on inspiring and motivating people to succeed in the workplace. Mark is a Training Manager with over 30 years’ experience in a wide variety of topics, including Management Development and Career Development. Mark shared some interesting and surprising statistics on what really motivates us all to come to work every day. According to recent research, people and positive relationships rank higher than financial reward, highlighting the importance of establishing strong teams of people in the work place and of asking the correct questions at interview stage to ensure that this comes about. Following the presentations, attendees enjoyed a buffet lunch as they networked, which was followed by our business card prize draw. The lucky winner on this occasion was Coleen Murphy of Seal Enterprises (training), who took away a bottle of bubbly.

Thank you to everybody who was involved in making the January Networking Hub a success. The next one is scheduled for 11:00 on Wednesday 29 April and we would love to see you there - further details will follow in due course.
