Networking Hub Talks Mediation

Chepstow

This week Basepoint Chepstow held another successful Networking Hub, featuring guest speakers Kristina Orton and Christine Pike of KC Confidential who are both accredited mediators.

We were delighted to welcome a host of new and familiar faces to the centre for the October Hub, which started as always with teas, coffees and a chance to converse with fellow attendees.  Following some relaxed networking and the exchanging of a few business cards, everybody took their seats to enjoy KC Confidential’s presentation on Mediation.

KC Confidential is a mediation service with the aim of offering businesses support and solutions to disputes by advising, informing and, if necessary, mediation. Kristina and Christine talked us through the benefits and aims of mediation, the role of a mediator, the mediation process and what happens afterwards. They gave some interesting insights into their role and the types of disputes they have to deal with, from neighbourhood disagreements to workplace conflict.

The information provided was both practical and pragmatic – mediation won’t always work but it can at least assist in clarifying options, finding common ground and exploring solutions. Kristine and Christina pointed out that it is now a very common expectation that parties engaged in disputes should have attempted to resolve the issue via mediation, before reaching the expensive and time-consuming courtroom. The presentation was undoubtedly very engaging, as it stimulated some lively discussion and interesting questions.

Following the presentation lunch was served, which attracted a great many compliments thanks to our fabulous catering company ‘Country Kitchen’. It was then time for the business card prize draw, which was won by a delighted Jenny Duckworth of Jam HR. Jenny took home a bottle of bubbly compliments of Basepoint.

The next Networking Hub will be held in January. If you would like to be added to the mailing list, or to find out more about Basepoint Chepstow and the services we provide, please email us or call 01291 635500. Alternatively you can visit our Website.
