How LEGO builder fought the recession and won
Attendees at Basepoint Havant and Waterlooville’s latest ‘Networking Hub’, a popular free networking event, were treated to a talk from Ed Diment of Bright Bricks Ltd, the UK’s only LEGO certified professional who’s built a “recession busting” business.
Ed and his co-director, Duncan Titmarsh, pride themselves on being able to create anything out of LEGO bricks, building all sorts from full sized greenhouses, to 3m tall LEGO handbags. In his presentation to the 30 Networking Hub attendees, Ed discussed the history of his company and how it’s become a “recession busting” business that doesn’t have to market or advertise, but attracts an international customer base purely on referrals. He also showed a speeded up video of the team building a jet engine, and presented his fantastic LEGO creations to the audience.
Brigitte Baker, centre manager at Basepoint Havant and Waterlooville, comments: “The Networking Hub was a great success, mostly attended by external businesses and entrepreneurs. Our fantastic speaker had the audience enthralled with his LEGO creations, he really captured their attention – I had a lot of positive feedback about how fascinating his business was, and how entertaining. His talk also resonated with many of the SMEs who also fought the recession, and won!”
