Let them eat cake! Basepoint Newhaven celebrates fifth birthday
Local Sussex SMEs turned up in force to the Newhaven Enterprise Centre’s recent ‘Networking Hub’, a popular free networking event, to commemorate the business centre’s fifth birthday.
Guest speaker at the event, Norman Mayhew of The Sussex Sign Company, captured the audience with an insightful speech that charted his own business journey, and extolled the importance of implementing marketing strategies and researching target markets to ensure a strong business model. Norman went on to share his ‘12 pillars of marketing’ which included some of his marketing tools, such as giving contacts and customer branded ice scrapers, as the majority of his business is wrapping cars with signage.
In true party style, attendees were not only encouraged to network and exchange contacts, but also fill up on birthday cake and help celebrate Basepoint Newhaven’s success over the past five years, and also Sussex’s growing business community.
Roxanne Haid, centre manager at the Basepoint operated business centre, comments: “We welcomed around 40 party guests to our recent Networking Hub, who were very impressed with our guest speaker, Norman. He is not only a very successful Sussex based businessman, but also a shrewd marketing man, and the attendees found his marketing advice extremely helpful. We were also grateful to Annie Lorys, President of the Newhaven Chamber of Commerce, who gave a lovely speech and wished us ‘Sto Lat’, a polish proverb which means 100 more years of good luck!”
