Deal on 'bottle stoppers'
A nautical firm has secured a £90,000 contract to supply ‘giant wine bottle stoppers’ to the Far East. Ramsay Q Martin, head of two-man band AMITS based at Gosport Business Centre, has won the deal to supply pumps and plugs for high powered suction anchors to Singapore.
The anchors are often used to secure oil pipelines. They are lowered to the seabed, before the water is sucked out, leaving them stuck to the seafloor. They are then plugged with devices which Mr Martin said resembled bottle stoppers. ‘It makes a change at the moment to have a British company exporting to Singapore, rather than the other way around’, said Mr Martin.
