Basepoint Southampton present charity with over £4,000 after fundraising events
Basepoint Southampton is delighted to announce that it recently presented its chosen charity, Down to Earth Community Farm, with a cheque for £4,691, after match-funding proceeds raised at two community events held earlier in the year.
Fundraising efforts included a ‘Special Community Volunteering Day’ held on the 25th August which raised £2,162 through donations and purchases of the farm’s produce, a ‘Summer Open Day’ held at the farm on the 30th August which raised £1,990, and finally, a BBQ event which raised over £331.
Down to Earth Community Farm offers a programme of activities for people with mild to moderate learning disabilities to interact with animals and the natural environment in a farm like setting. The charity aims to create a supportive environment where people are able to gain new life skills and participate in real work opportunities including animal care, horticulture, wood work, cooking, and arts and crafts.
Basepoint, who specialise in the development and operation of flexible business, innovation and enterprise centres, is owned by The ACT Foundation, a leading UK grant-making charity, dedicated to improving the quality of life of those in need. As such, each centre is dedicated to fundraising for a selected charity and The ACT Foundation match funds any money raised by the chosen charity, up to the value of £10,000 per centre.
