Southdown Junior rescue Sunflowers
On Monday afternoon, 24th May, Centre Manager Claire Murray visited Southdown Junior School to help to choose their sunflower to enter the competition to grow the tallest and best. Over the weekend the school garden had been vandalised and they had lost carrots, strawberries, beans and some of their sunflowers which was a great shame. The children and Mrs Allen had worked hard in the morning to re-instate what they could and they still had some sunflowers in pots elsewhere. Claire and the gardening club members voted for the sunflower to be tracked for the competition and chose the one in pot number 2, which was 17 cms high. Some members of the club are pictured with the chosen plant.
