Frank chosen for Olympic chance of a lifetime run

Southampton

A once in a lifetime opportunity has been handed to Frank O Brien, maintenance man at Basepoint Southampton, after he was accepted to be among the first members of the public to experience the new Olympic Stadium. Frank was over the moon when he discovered he was one of 5000 successful applicants chosen to take part in The National Lottery Olympic Park Run. The five mile course will pass several Olympic venues, such as the Velodrome and Aquatics Centre, with the finish line on the athletics track at the newly built stadium for next year’s games.

Frank said “I feel very lucky to have this opportunity; its’ going to be a very special day. I can’t wait for the sensation of running onto the track.” He plans to donate all sponsorship money to Smile Support and Care and Basepoint Southampton have promised to match fund the figure raised. The ex-fireman is somewhat of an adrenaline junkie, having done several skydives in his lifetime as well as running ten London marathons. He was also the second oldest person to bungee jump off Verzasca Dam, a site famously features in the James Bond Film Golden Eye.
