Basepoint Business Centre in Havant appoints a new charity.

Havant

Basepoint Havant is delighted to announce that it has recently decided to make Enable Ability its charity of the year. In so doing it will promote and match-fund monies raised by the charity through their fund-raising events.

Since May of this year Enable Ability has already raised over £3,000 as a result of a sponsored 10 kilometre walk over the South Downs, participation in the annual Dragon Boat Festival that was organised by the Rotary Clubs of Portsmouth & Southsea and Southsea Castle and a sponsored head shave by one of the charity’s supporters. Planned future fund raising activities will include quizzes, an autumn barn dance and a sponsored abseil down the Spinnaker Tower.

Enable Ability is established as an independent charity for the care, welfare and advancement of disabled people in Portsmouth and the surrounding area.  Working in partnership with disabled children and adults, their families and carers, they provide a range of high quality, professional and confidential services. The charity celebrated its 65th anniversary in November 2015 at Gunwharf Quays whilst the Spinnaker Tower was lit up in its corporate colours.

During the current summer holiday period Enable Ability will be supporting over 200 children and young people with disabilities at playschemes, youth clubs and activity groups by providing a comprehensive range of activities whilst the families benefit from vital respite. The following is a recent comment from a parent of a child that attends one of its projects: ‘The staff are amazing and I have no worries when my boys attend as I know they are well cared for and will enjoy themselves’.

David Walther, Centre Manager at Basepoint Havant comments: "We are delighted to appoint EnableAbility as our nominated charity. It is important for everyone to know their own potential. By our involvement with EnableAbility, we hope to be able to expose those teens and young adults to what a business environment can be and reduce any fears they may have moving towards . We will be inviting small groups on site to interact with our licencces so they can see how different companies operate."
