Dylan in Dream Land
Gosport, Havant, Southampton, Waterlooville
Round 6 of the National Hovercraft Racing Championships at Gang Warily, Southampton, what a weekend!
Dylan Hutton, Team Basepoint Racing, Hovercraft pilot, was in action over the bank holiday weekend in the latest round of the National Championships.
Blighted with technical difficulties, which seem to happen at most of the race weekends, with a reoccurring loss of power and steering difficulties, meant that in order to qualify for the weekend, Dylan had to borrow a hovercraft! Having never raced in another craft before and with only minutes left, Dylan managed to pull one out of the bag to qulaifiy in 5th position.
The race weekend was not without incident with 4 riders being taken to hospital with broken arms and legs, no one said this was a safe sport. Dylan, with the help of his Pit Crew; Dad, Mum and Sister, Tim, Karen and Molly was able to finish 6th Overall for the race weekend, which is an amazing effort.
Dylan has been given a major boost as the Solent Basepoint Centre Managers were so impressed with his attitude and application that they have agreed to sponsor him again for the 2017 season. Dylan is looking to increase his speed with a larger engine so that he can qualify to compete in the World Championships in China in 2018.
