Basepoint Folkestone Match Funds £2,500 of Charity Fund Raising

Folkestone

Basepoint Folkestone match funded £2,500 of their supported charity’s fundraising for July. The charity took part in two great events and raised much needed funds for the Canterbury Oast Trust, who own and manage The Rare Breeds Centre. Their Centre is not only opens to the public, but they also train their clients with life and work skills in their art department, farm, in agriculture, their restaurant, kitchens and shop.

The British 10K London on Sunday 10th July run follows a route past some of London’s most iconic sites. Over 11,000 runners took part in the event including their four fundraisers - Andrew Causer (who’s sister Sammy lives with the Trust), and Claire Samuell, Jax Tanner and Emily Rust who are all staff members of COT. Claire works in one of our high needs homes for people with learning and physical disabilities, Jax is a tutor at Poulton Wood our woodland conservation project and Emily is one of our fundraisers. Emily used the 10K run as a goal to aid her recovery from knee surgery.

COT Riders, Kevin Gallagher, Jay Baskerville, Scott Norman, Richard Chipps (and his Godson David), completed the gruelling London to Surrey 100 mile cycle ride which follows the 2012 Olympic route and includes two mountainous hills! As if this wasn’t enough of a challenge, Richard and David rode a tandem on the day. Kevin’s cousin lives with the Trust.
