Park Community School Car Wash
15 young students wash over 30 cars to raise money for their trip to Tanzania
Back in July we received a letter from a student at Park Community School in Havant. They were looking to fund raise for a trip of a lifetime to Tanzania where they will be working with a charity called Grassroots.
I contacted the student and her teacher to advise that we would be happy to help them. We arranged for the 15 students hoping to attend the trip, to come to Basepoint Havant to do a car wash.
So on the 20th October, on an overcast morning, the children and their teachers arrived at the centre. The weather did not deter our licensees from coming out in force. The children and their teachers worked solidly to meet the demand and every car wash washed perfectly. After five and a half hours 15 tired and slightly soggy children got back onto their mini bus to head home. In the time that they were at the centre they washed 30 cars and some of these were inside and out. They also had some tricky vehicles to wash including a large van and a trailer. The children, even after all their work, always had smiles on their faces and took pride in what they were doing.
Basepoint Havant will be working with the school to arrange another day to help raise more funds for this amazing trip.
