Basepoint’s Newhaven and Haywards Heath centres teamed up to sponsor East Sussex’s Best of the Best Awards on Thursday 13th October followed by the Best4Biz conference on Friday 14th October, both held at the Iconic De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill.
To ensure guests were entertained throughout the evening, the awards were hosted by 4* Edinburgh Fringe Comedian, Radio 4 presenter of Future Proof, scientist and author, Timandra Harkness. Basepoint were proud to present the Innovation award to winners, Surrey NanoSystems for creating the darkest man-made substance on the planet. We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate all nominees.
Now in its third year, the Best4Biz conference is a collaboration between East Sussex County Council and local business via ACES, the Alliance of Chambers in East Sussex. The topic of this year’s conference was ‘Business in the Future’ with keynote speakers Rupert Clubb, Director of Economy and Transport East Sussex County Council, Alex Storey, Head of SME Partnerships Google and Allister Frost, Former Head of Digital Marketing for Microsoft.
As well as the fantastic keynote speakers, guests had the opportunity to hear from three local business experts in the Business Bite Sized section, including award winning entrepreneur, Penina Shepherd of ACUMEN BUSINESS LAW, Graham Marley Enterprise Adviser and CEO of Let's Do Business and The NOW Team lead by 18-year-old Theo Pilbeam, pioneering software developer, whose business model is spreading along the Sussex coast.
