Basepoint Folkestone recently presented a cheque for over £2,800 to local charity, Hft Kent after match-funding their latest fundraising efforts.

Hft Kent provides tailored support to people with learning disabilities, and Basepoint Folkestone has been supporting the charity for over a year, match funding money raised up to the value of £10,000.

The latest fundraising efforts for Hft included a jazz evening orgainsed by Mandie Chant, a
parent of someone supported by Hft, as well as donations from Laura Hones of Sellindge and
Geoff Orman of Canterbury, who completed the Bath half marathon in March – Basepoint match
funded the money raised to provide a grand total of £2817.00 to the charity.
Gillian Orman, fund development assistant for Hft Kent accepted the cheque on behalf of the
charity. She comments: “We are extremely grateful for Basepoint’s support, which match funds
local community fundraising. It has enabled us to encourage fundraisers to hold events for us,
knowing their efforts will be matched. We need fundraising so we can continue to provide our
much-needed service in our local community.”
Lorraine May, centre manager at Basepoint Folkestone, adds: “We’re delighted to continue our
ongoing support of Hft Kent. The charity does such a fantastic job for local people with learning
disabilities and is an intrinsic part of the local community.”
Basepoint is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the The ACT Foundation, a leading UK grant making
charity dedicated to improving the quality of life of those in need. As such, each of Basepoint’s
28 business centres across the South of England and the Midlands support a local charity, and
any funds which are raised are then matched by the ACT Foundation, up to the value of
£10,000.
Hft Kent is based in Lympne and has residential care homes in Folkestone and Hythe. It
provides tailored support for 60 adults in the local area; from residential care to ‘supported

Basepoint so far has gone towards a sensory garden and new gadgets enabling people to lead
their lives more independently. For more information of Hft Kent, please visit www.hft.org.uk.
