tough training regime for Big-Hearted Chepstow Licensee

Chepstow

Chepstow Licensee Andy Hosking of Severfield (UK) Ltd is in the throes of a seriously tough training regime, in preparation for the Action Challenge 100k London to Brighton Walk he will be taking part in on 28th May to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research.

The route will start at Richmond Park in London and meanders its way down to Brighton, over the South Downs, both on and off road. The plan will be to complete the walk in under 24 hours. Andy anticipates being on his feet 18-22 hours walking, with breaks in-between.

This is a very personal plight for Andy, who was diagnosed with eye cancer in 2010. Thankfully the cancer was caught and treated before too much damage was caused. On the 15th January this year, however, the disease struck his family again when his mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. She is having on-going tests so that doctors can plan her treatment.

Cancer Research is the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. They have saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and survival has doubled over the past 40 years.

To date, Andy has raised an incredible £4,679 via his JustGiving page. This amount includes sponsorship from Basepoint Chepstow and from fellow Licensee JustIngerdients Ltd. Also included are dozens of individual donations from Licensees, along with £200 raised from a charity sale that took place at Basepoint Chepstow, arranged by JustIngredients. It’s enormously heart-warming to see how the Basepoint Chepstow community has given so much backing to Andy and the great cause he is working so hard to support.

We’d all like to wish Andy the very best of luck as he makes his final preparations for the big day. Andy himself is really looking forward to the day, but doesn’t underestimate the challenge ahead. He’ll keep focused on that finish line and tells us, “All being well, I will be met by the most important people in my life, my beautiful wife, gorgeous daughter and my loving parents, for a well needed hug.”

No doubt you will have earned it Andy!
