Lord Heseltine visits Canterbury Innovation Centre
Lord Heseltine visited Canterbury Innovation Centre on 18th August as part of his visit to North Kent to see Growth Potential for Thames Estuary 2050 Growth Commission. Lord Heseltine visited the University of Kent after seeing Canterbury Innovation Centre, and was interested in how the centre collaborates with the university in terms supporting young start-up businesses, providing move on space for businesses that have been nurtured by the university and need to move to the commercial world but still be situated in close proximity to the university.
Lord Heseltine visited HIVE (Hub for Innovation and Enterprise) which is situated within the centre and is home to several high tech start-up businesses. Jo Clark gave a short presentation to Lord Heseltine and his colleagues from the Commission and highlighted the importance of centres such as Canterbury Innovation Centre, to ensure that companies and their technologies remain in the area and therefore enhance the skill base within the area.
